ALAMEDA, CA — Need a fast charge on your Tesla? Alameda's first Tesla supercharger station went online in mid-December. It has 12 stalls, each providing half of a charge in about 30 minutes.

The station is located at Alameda South Shore Center, packed with retail, dining, and entertainment choices to amuse drivers as they wait for their cars to charge.

For drivers traveling long distances, the station is 13 minutes from I-880 and 15 minutes from Oakland International Airport. The supercharger network covers major routes in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific, with more than 11,000 Superchargers worldwide.

A formal unveiling ceremony was held on Dec. 19 with Mayor-elect Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft, Public Utilities Board President Ann McCormick and other civic leaders on hand.

The smiling Mayor of Alameda uses giant brass scissors to cut giant red ribbon tied between two brand new Tesla chargers at South Shore Center surrounded by smiling people.
